Missouri HS basketball team swaps out triplets to shoot free throw
Dora High School in Missouri is under investigation after a video shows free-throw shooters being swapped out during the Cabool Boys Holiday Tournament championship on Saturday.
The referees didn't notice the switch, possibly because the players in question are triplets, according to Wyatt D. Wheeler of the Springfield News-Leader.
In the video, Auston Luna (No. 34) can be seen getting fouled and heading to the sideline as one of his brothers - Mason Luna or Bryson Luna - takes the shot in his place. Dora won the game 64-62.
Josh Murray, a parent of an opposing player, told the News-Leader that parents from other teams that faced Dora this season have accused it of pulling the same stunt.
Missouri State High School Activities Association spokesperson Jason West said they've received complaints about the incident and are investigating.
The boys' father, Rick Luna, is also Dora's head coach, athletic director, and principal. When reached by Ozarks Sports Zone, Rick insisted the swap wasn't planned.
"The two free throws they're talking about, (Dora) went one-for-four shooting those free throws and we won by two," he said.
