You're no doubt familiar with Optima's Search for the Ultimate Street Car series that culminates in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI) the Saturday after the SEMA show in Las Vegas each year. The series and the invitational have both enjoyed great success and continue to bring in new competitors to the event series in droves. The series often sees some of the most top notch rides built specifically for competition come out each year to take home the top honors in the OUSCI.

In an effort to expand its reach to more grassroots enthusiasts Optima has launched a new nationwide autocross series titled DriveAutoX. The inaugural season will feature a four event series of autocross lifestyle events with an emphasis on the driver's skill, vehicle performance, and the social experience. "The series is designed to support all participants' passion to come drive with us in a fun competitive event. With two days of autocross, drivers will get the chance to complete multiple runs on courses designed by the pros that run OUSCI," says Cam Douglass, director of marketing, Optima Batteries, Johnson Controls. "DriveAutoX will also feature the same simple class designation and friendly rule set as our Search for the Ultimate Street Car series. With more slots to fill we hope to welcome new enthusiasts to the sport."

Much like the Ultimate Street Car series, DriveAutoX will be open to all years, makes, and models of cars and trucks with several classes available. Unlike club-level autocross events there will be no work requirements (timing, cone wrangling, etc.) for the participants, meaning the two-day events will focus on driving skills and friendly competition through the cones. At the end of the weekend a champion will be named from each class. Registration for the Optima DriveAutoX series is now open at The entry fee is $125 and there are 150 spots open for each event.
