Eberle’s cannon leg makes the cut.

Utah State kicker Dominik Eberle is next on our list of Mountain West football’s 52 best players this season, coming in at #43 after having one of the Mountain West’s most prolific seasons ever at his position.

Though he wasn’t a Lou Groza Award finalist like he was in 2017, Eberle set a program record with 141 points last fall after connecting on 22-of-28 field goals, including 9-of-12 from beyond 40 yards, and tied the NCAA record with 24 kicker points against New Mexico State. He also managed a touchback on 63.9% of his kickoffs, too, helping propel Utah State to a top-40 finish by Bill Connelly’s Kickoff Efficiency metric.

With so many offensive weapons having moved on this off-season, Eberle’s ability to help the Aggies finish drives could be even more crucial this fall. In a Mountain West flush with quality specialists, that edge should definitely keep Utah State in the mix.
