Friday (Dec. 7) marks the final day of the 2019 Vevo DSCVR Artists To Watch series with two roots rock performers, Jade Bird and Brandon Lay rounding out this year's list of honorees.

The annual showcase program for rising artists across the globe adds the likes of Amber Mark, the YBN crew and Astrid S to an alumni network that includes Billie Eilish, Sam Smith and Alessia Cara. Catch up on all of the 2019 performances as well as additional content archived here.

English singer-songwriter Jade Bird has already built a prolific catalogue with her critically lauded 2017 debut EP Something American, followed by a consistent string of singles like "Lottery" making waves this year. Bird has the makings of a top-tier folk-pop artist with one foot firmly in the old-soul luminary world and the other in the genre-busting pop scene. Bird deftly combines the competing sounds with a natural confidence and genuine appreciation for her craft.

In a prepared statement, Vevo head of content, programming & marketing JP Evangelista says, “Jade Bird is a true talent, having worked with her for some time our Artists To Watch list was the perfect way for us to celebrate  and support her into 2019. She’s instantly memorable and her voice is infectious.”

Tennessee singer-songwriter Brandon Lay knows what it means to repurpose a genre for the next generation. The country singer brings the same intoxicating, fun vibe as typical mainstream fare while making room at the party for pop, soul and R&B influences. It’s a mix that works with Lay’s winning frontman personality

“No surprise that Brandon Lay is getting so much attention from country fans,” Vevo director of music and talent David McTiernan says. “He’s been working his way up for a bit, but after opening slots from a slew of artists including Dierks Bentley and Brantley Gilbert, he totally won us over and we know the 2019 is going to be an even bigger year.”
