New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was up to no good during training camp practice at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday. The team ran a fumble drill with loose footballs. Rookies were forced to recover the ball. But it wasn’t under normal circumstances.

Not only had a grounds crewman been watering a patch of the field for roughly an hour, but Brady was waiting with a hose to spray the rookies as they slid for the ball. The rookies were basically trying to recover the football on a slip and slide.

“Tom [Brady] was just having too good of a time,” defensive end Michael Bennett said after Tuesday’s practice.

A Patriots beat reporter tweeted about the drill, a harmless form of hazing that one of the rookie coaches, Jerod Mayo, partook in. Brady felt like he had some explaining to do.

I can explain. https://t.co/4K62VkciHS
