Tennessee State defensive end Latrelle Lee has been dismissed from the team and expelled from the school after punching strength coach T.J. Greenstone twice in the head during Saturday’s game against Southeast Missouri.
Lee's punches knocked Greenstone to the ground.
Greenstone is a former Vanderbilt football player and also acts as the Tigers' “get-back” coach, keeping players who aren't in the game away from the sideline to avoid a penalty.
"We, of course, do not condone any act of violence within our department and are very disturbed by the action of one of our students," TSU athletic director Teresa Phillips said in a statement to The Tennessean. "We are committed to supporting the coach who was personally affected and our concern now is with him."
Lee, a 6-2, 240-pound senior from Dothan, Ala., did not play in Saturday’s game, a 23–20 win for TSU. He was dismissed and expelled Saturday night, per The Tennessean report.
