What started as six strangers brought together by their love of music, this Seattle-based band has earned respect reaching far beyond their local music scene. The Head and the Heart's band members, all with different backgrounds, and all with diverse talents, released their self-titled debut album in 2011. The album was a major success and became one of Sub Pop Records' best-selling debut releases ever.

In 2014, exhausted from touring four years straight, the band decided it was time for a break. While taking time off from the road, each member set out on distinctly different paths.

Vocalist/guitarist Jonathan Russell landed in Haiti where he worked with the non-profit, Artists for Peace and Justice. Pianist Kenny Hensley learned to fly planes and studied kung-fu in China. Bassist Chris Zasche went off the grid to enjoy the Canadian Rockies, and drummer Tyler Williams took himself across the country before briefly settling down in Richmond, VA. to enjoy the growing music scene. Meanwhile, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Charity Rose Thielen sharpened her compositional skills by writing for such legends as Mavis Staples.

After a short break, last year the band regrouped in Stinson Beach, CA, rested, recovered and ready to do what they do best, make music. "It almost felt like we were a new band, trying things we hadn't tried," bassist Chris Zasche recalls. "We stayed at a bungalow on the beach. We'd wake up, have coffee and go boogie boarding. We were ready and excited to be back together."

The band's renewed sense of purpose led to their latest album, Signs Of Light, the group's first release for Warner Bros. Records. Produced by Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Cage The Elephant), the high-energy album is sure to be a crowd-pleaser as it unleashes loud guitars and includes the songs, "All We Ever Knew" and "Turn it Around."
